I've heard White Noise wasn't worth a see, and that Lemony Snicket's was good, but only as a movie, not as a copy of the book, yknow?

I want to see Constantine since I'm a fan of the HellBlazer comic but Reeves is just all wrong for the hellish Brit John Constantine. This movie could have been really good but I think its just going to be so so. The comic is amazing. If you get a chance to read the Allen Moore Swamp Thing, do so. Thats where Constantine got his start.

There was this one scene in HellBlazer that was just so classic. It was a story on John's 40th birthday and he was having a shitty time. Some friends showed up and one of his hippy friends has some pot growing in the closet. Well, john friends invited the SwampThing but John didn't know it. John and Swampy have issues, so they don't talk much. Anyway, Swampy tries to play nice by growing the closet plants into beautiful full grown marijuana. They all wind up getting pissed and John pisses on the Phantom Strangers shoes. Too funny

Later on in the series almost everyone dies a horrible death at the hands of the first of the fallen. At least they had one last party.

    Somethimes I'm such a geek

A friend of mine showed me that issue years ago. It was pretty sweet.

I used to be into comics. Not your typical super hero shit though.

Just about anything on vertigo was cool. Shade the Changing Man, The Clive barker titles, Dark Horse. Though I did like GI Joe and The Transformers.

There's great horror comics coming out of IDW these days - Steve Niles is the shiznit.

But anyway, I guess this thread was about new movies. I've heard a lot about White Noise too whrere the trailers make it looks awesome, the premise of the story sounds good, but everybody hates it once they've seen it. Oh well.

In my opinion no horror movie has ever surpassed John Carpenter's The Thing... and it was released in 1982. The only special effect that doesn't hold up to this day is a claymation shot near the end, which lasts about 3 seconds. It's got some gore to it, but the movie's about paranoia. It's creepy, very creepy.

I don't think I've seen it. At least not in the last 15 years. I'll check it out. Blood and Gore doesn’t bother me it's the been there done that a million times now add more blood that pisses me off about slasher flicks. Originality is far more interesting then the just add more blood approach of modern movies.

By the way just watched Shaun of the Dead. Not really a true horror flick, but rather clever. By no means classic but not a bad flick.

I happend to watch White Noise with a group of four friends it was a 2 thought the film was going to be better and 2 of them thought the film was what it was going to be I myself along with everyone else, thought the film was definately worth going to see but its not like real beefed up, holding onto your seat horror unless you understand the concept of what it is based off of it is based off of EVP. I guess most folks dont believe in ghosts and chit paranormal and are very skeptic I happen to be a believer that it is possible I suppose in some way shape or form that there could be ghosts or strange stuff because everyone I talk to has had at least one strange unexplained incedent in there lifetime I supposed unexplained could be just a lucky chance of catching something the right way in the light or catching a certian sound at a certian volume and the odds are that it matches up to something which only happens once in a great while....

No one really can say for sure there are many unexplained occurences some of my friends smoked dope some didnt I happen not to smoke dope or drink and I can tell you that one time I had something wacked happen to me twice unexplained I guess with one of them I coulda been like inbetween dreams or something because I was alone at the time but the other one I was with someone else so I know I wasnt dreaming...

Some are believers in ghosts some are not but we all like the horror and fear that it creates wether your a critic or not it... And some critics of it I believe are just critics because they would not even want to think something like that was possible otherwise they would not be able to sleep at night and other critcs I believe are just full of the tuff guy act there is very few critcs that I have saw that are open minded about much of anything judging by the statements they made in general.

    All a matter of opinon.

But to rate White noise out of 100% I would give it an 91% putting it on my list of movies I wouldnt mind seeing again.

To give you an angle of horror movies a movie that I would consider to be a 100% would be The Exorcist part 1 or Nightmare On Elm St. part 1 those are the movies that gave me nightmares as a kid.

If you're in a DVD buyin' mood, John Carpenter's The Thing is a great one. It's got more special materials content than the actual movie, including an 80 minute documentary.

I liked Shaun of the Dead too. It had some cool inside jokes for zombie movie fans. I never once felt like they were in real danger though.. you know that claustrophobic zombie movie feel, like the original Night of the Living Dead (or even the 1990 remake). Worth copying though!

I rent about 12 DVDs a week to feed my burner.

    It hungers.

Yeah I'd have to agree most of these movies all look to be promising...

Hopefully theres some feedback that'll happen with these specific movies.
