Torrent index sites aren't going anywhere

    They'll just change a little.

The news is that files offered through eXeem will have a hash. In a right-click menu similar to "copy magnet link" or "copy ed2k link", a user will be able to copy this eXeem hash/link. The link can be given to friends or posted to a website (who knew?)

My educated guess is that we'll see verified eXeem link sites just like we see similar sites for other networks: just look at ShareReactor (ed2k) or suprnova (BT), or the sites when Kazaa was actually usable. Perhaps with built-in technology or the aid of an external application, a link can be automatically added to the eXeem DL queue.

The question, of course, is how long it will take for the hashing scheme to be abused. Hopefully it will be a strong one that will take enough time that a new P2P technology will have superceded BT at that point.

Even if the hash is cracked or the sites go down, the network will remain, as Gnutella does. Sites that do not provide hash links but merely post verified releases w/o links will still help--cf NFOrce.nl to see what I mean. You could still search for the terms in the filename. The result may be hit or miss, but in the end, I think eXeem will be a good thing.

    No worries!

Yes, but understand what I mean. Right now, if sites and trackers go down, THERE IS NO "NETWORK."

By making eXeem more like traditional P2P, the network will survive since each peer is a tracker. You don't NEED the sites, but they will still exist serving the same purpose as they did before.
