Post eXeem would presumably be free from prosecution

Whois shows the crowd behind Exeem are in fact a company by the name Swarm Systems Inc. that are in fact located in Saint Kitts and Nevis, so would presumably be free from prosecution and lawsuits like Sharman Networks.

We already knew it was a shadowy company, now we know it might even be good to be shadowy.
Being located in such an independant state can provide protection but will it be enough?

eXeem is free of lots of things. I wonder where I could find those audio interview files they released. I would like to hear them again for a laugh.

Learn to use newsgroups. They are how the internet began and now serve as the sewer. Why would the RIAA go below when they can walk right into a nice clean air conditioned torrent site?

Newsgroups are a pain in the ass and I am still learning about them, but they are worth it in the end.

The problem with UseNet is, unless you have a cool ISP that offers free UseNet along with your internet subscription, you have to fork over money for warez.

Besides, it's much easier to avoid the RIAA if you're downloading stuff they are praying you don't know about - content they have no control over.

Drew, what is some of this content that they don't know about and can't control that I am not familiar with?

    Thanks

It's a new world out there guy. A few major artists have done free download albums, and many, many, many known smaller artists are putting their stuff out there free, or rereleasing older material free as promotion for upcoming material. You won't have to look too hard.

    Excrement Cranium,

Other than Radiohead and some indies, who else is putting their music out there for free? I keep up with my fav artists (indie rock, electronica, and underground rap) pretty well and none of them are really doing much.

    Thanks

Look on My Space. A lot of musicians post their music on their blogs. The best way for newer, unsigned, REAL artists to make a living off playing music is to post their music up on their blogs while giving out info on where they will be playing on the road. On the road they can sell their wares to their fans. Like tee-shirts, special discs and such. Good bands with talent could end up making more money than they would by signing over their rights to a marketing power house like Sony. And who needs MTV anymore? Artists use to have to play ball but the ball game has changed and some artists are starting to notice that. The old bands are trying to catch on but their thinking is still stuck in the 90's, 80's and 70's.

Don't think I really stuck to your question and I surely strayed away from the dead thread topic but what the hell.

Zeropaid even has it's own section for open source music (well, thread) here. There's tonnes of websites that people post to (SoundClick, CNet music, ArtistServer, ccMixster, SectionZ, etc.)
