    Rise Exeem

I feel this program will open new ideas but I was suprised to see just how much hype this product was. I cant help but admit I was one of the people who held this prog in high regard. This is going to revolutionize p2p but just the ideas presented not the client itself.
The poll today kids, Exeem, lame duck program? or the next suprnova? (now that we know Sloncek is just a PR rep for the company) Feel free to also discuss the merits you can see and the flaws. No flaming folks and lets discuss!

I think the merits of a uncentralized BT based network with BTs unique hashing a good Idea
as is the introduction of a search type function

I'll like it once the "lite" version is released. And I have been informed by a souce (wont name him unless he tells me its ok) that currently the beta links the serial code for the beta to the ip address recorded by suprnovaforums.net ... which, if included in any part in the final release, I will be staying away from.

But, the idea is an incredible one, I'll give them that.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

    ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
    AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
    Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
    Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer

    Also sporting a black MacBook
    Revision/Release 1
    Upgraded to 2GB RAM.

i tried out the beta and it is alright the layout is nice, but it is almost exactly like torrentopia in my mind. But i will have to see it when exeem is released to the public because i didn't have a serial code to test the beta with.

I tried it, when I first got it I had a serial that worked. It's all hype, that's all I'm saying. It is very dependant on the users staying online, as each user is a tracker for the released contant, and in the versions I triedv0.1-0.15, there is no fake deprevention scheme, so ultimately it will fail.
    Here come the flames.

I'll probably be staying away from this bleeding edge.

If it turns out to be the most totally sweet super awesome app arround... I'll check it out.

Wow - it is actually 50/50.

Nothing with Cydoor adware would get my vote.

Comparing eXeem to SuprNova is like comparing Napster to Napster2.

    This program is:
    Decentralised, like kazaa
Filled with adware including Cydoor, like kazaa
Is run by a for profit company, like kazaa
Relies on a brandname in order to screw as many unsuspecting newbies as possible, like kazaa
Has nothing to do with torrents, like kazaa
Uploads while you download, like BitTorrent.

pffft. I'm going to ignore this program until the newbies start rolling in asking us how to clean up their systems.

EDIT: I know it isn't really as bad as Kazaa, I was just making a point ;)
I'm not really malicious. I'm a nice guy.

I wonder who chrises source was lol

What hawk said is true it sends ur ip to the central server and records it. there will be an exeem light version no less than a week after the release of the public release. it will be done by the same guys who did the kazaa lite project after it got shut down so it will be top notch. it appears to also not be decentralized as at start up it connects to server to retrieve a nodes list, so basicly all the riaa would have to do is knock the nodes server offline and good bye exeem. the betas are very buggy and i sure hope they fix some of the bugs before they plug the adware in. I'm told that they will use the same .dlll file that kazaa uses to execute cydorr making it useless if you use adaware to clean it. i use proxies and stuff so the ip thing is no big deal hope this info helps and i will keep you all abreast of exeem light.

I was disappointed with their decision to includ Cydoor in Exeem.....That's NO...NO..a big NO for me....Sorry, cant have a dangerous Spyware in my computer.

Hopefully some one will make a lite version of it.

Of course it is not 100% decentralized. You need some sort of host cache otherwise you'll never connect. The same with Kazaa, Gnutella, Blubster/Piolet... And if the cache that's stored on your harddrive become outdated you need the central servers once again to update. I'm surprised the RIAA/MPAA doesn't DoS the caches to major P2P networks.

Also it'll become a haven for fake and renamed files unless there's some sort of trusted documented source to verify hashes. Hashes by themselves tell you jacksh!t. Then if it does become popular the MPAA will start suing end users and littering it with more fakes of their own.

I visit these forums for this very reason...to stay informed. I was stupid enough to try out ES5 once, but it was only for experimentation, purely, since I planned on formatting my HD the next day. I was curious as to all the hype. I had no idea as to the sinister code within, until later, but the gui was enough to make me hurl anyways.

Bottom line is when I start hearing hype tactics used to promote a new, better than ever p2p app, I get reeeeally suspicious. I go with what works and wait till the bugs are worked out of what doesn't.

    perhaps i'm not understanding something...
is exeem supposed to share whole files or is it supposed to share just .torrents? wouldnt the best thing that can happen to bittorrent right now be a decentralized program that shares only .torrents? a program like this would have a much larger userbase than any particular website and torrent information(such as ratings and seeder/leecher stats) could be recieved from the tracker on request. each torrent can be downloaded and brought over to the users favorite client. something like this could completely alleviate the need for torrent sites altogether. is this what exeem is supposed to do? is anyone clear on how exeem really works?
