First let me say thanks for all the help I have received from everyone so far. Now that I have my new dvd burner up and running it has presented me with frontiers to conquer.
1. My kids have both x-box and ps2 consoles for this Christmas. I want to back up those expensive games I have purchased, fair and square, using real money. First the ps2. I used alcohol 120% to make an image of the original and then burned it onto a blank dvd-r. When inserted into the ps2 it says to please insert a ps2 formatted disc. What gives. Second, I have not attempted to try the x-box yet so don't know what problems I will encounter.
2. I have music cds and dvd movies I have purchased fair and square, using real money. I want to back them up also but then both alcohol and nero tell me the file cannot be copied because of copywrite protection. I say piss on that, I paid for them and should be able to back them up if I wish.
Anyway, I am trying out dvd shrink on one of my movies now. As always, any help/advice is appreciated.

I think you need a special chip for playstation 2 and x-box to play copied games.
And second all you need for movies is dvd shrink and nero.

No I am not a Captain & Tenille fan.
I just thought it was catchy!

remember don't use xbox mod chips if you're an xbox live guy. It gets ya banned.. Some of the time anyways.

If you really want the games to work, a hard drive (or drives, if you want to backup both ps2 and xbox games) might fit the bill. I recently did this with my PS2, and there are ways of doing it that wont even void your waranty. I'm almost positive that there are methods for using an HDD with an xbox that dont void your warranty either.

I don't know a whole lot about doing this for xbox, but I've got some experience with doing it with PS2. Before potentially wasting your time, you should check out this website. It tells you which games do and don't work. You should look the list over for the games you'd want to use. Note: some of the games that supposedly cannot work can work if you install the games using your PC.Originally Posted by kuebaldy
