Hey, I'm thinking of buying one of them portable mp3 players for use in my car. But I need one that has high-quality output not just a crappy stereo earphone jack. Are there any mp3 players with RCA out?

A start, at least for prices. Good Luck.

Are you talking about an optical out connector?
No, he's talking about something more than just a plain ole headphone jack. He wants L/R channels and quality.

Ya i know but isnt optical the best quality?
yes optical is great but what about Vampire wire??? :black i have some of that hooked to my strerio in the living room and it sounds great too
I spent 200 for a jensen car cd/mp3 player in 2002 and still use it today. It is great. Audio quality can be effected if you do not have good shocks and struts on your car.Originally Posted by BadMofo666

The cheapest way is to get a cd-mp3 player model "Durabrand" for $30 (Sony and samsung motherboard and sony chip if you crack the case) . It has headphone and line out. If you have a stereo in your car that has AUX IN, just hook up an rca cable on one end and 1/8" stereo plug on the other. (you can buy the cable at radio shack, or make your own.)Originally Posted by BadMofo666
Any device that has line in or Aux in can accept an mp3 player that has line out.
good luck :)

not now but in future i will do the same, hows ipod?
I am looking for something with a hard drive and the ability to select artist, album, songs, etc. so I can put my whole collection on it. Optical is the best audio out, but my head unit in my car has rca-in so it would be useless. I know you can buy an adapter to turn the headphone to rca but you get horrible quality with the headphone cables.
I can even tell a difference in my computer speakers when they are hooked up through my soundblaster x-gamer with the headphone style cable versus the usb. And this is a high-quality sound card and my computer speakers aren't anywhere near the quality of sound as my car system.
really i have had no problem with using my headphone jack to rca connector to connect my computer to a stereo. I get just as good sound as anything else.

headphone out is a different impedence than line out. Some mp3-cd players have both, many cd-mp3 players just have headphone out.Originally Posted by mountain_rage
Take line out of your player, 1/8 stereo cable to RCA, and plug that into AUX in on your stereo or car stereo and the audio should sound fine.
