Is LOTR return of the king extended cut better?
Is this movie way different then the cinematic release? Is it worth buying?

Well Ladifrickenda
Obviously the storyline is the same. However, there are more than 50 additional minutes added to the cinematic release. You could always "test drive" it first to see if you think that it's worth it. Try renting it...I've also heard that if you know where to look you could probably find it on the internet. Wink...wink.

I've had it for about a week now thanks to alt.binaries.dvd
It's an amazing epic. I plan on buying the box set of all three extended cuts when they are released.
The extended cuts add alot to the film...it is not just composed of extra filler and stuff you don't need. There's alot of character development and other scenes that are in the book but didn't make it to the movie.
Whether you buy it or not, you need to watch it if you are a fan of the series..it's amazing.

No extra Shelob footage, Freeloader.
It does, however, take Frodo like 20 extra minutes to get on the friggin' boat at the end... or maybe that's just me.
There's no really huge extra scene, just tons of little stuff added throughout the film. If you're a fan of the the whole ring thang, then it's an obvious purchase... if you're into the whole purchasing thing.
