Ive had alot of trouble with the newer versions of winmx, they all had illegal opperations, or wouldnt load right, ect. Finaly i found a place that still offerd WinMX 2.6 and it works great, only problem is that all of the network addresses are out of date, i was wondering if i could get this version to still function with the current servers, but i dont know what the current server lists are, anyone with any sort of idea on how to fix this, will be appreciated.
2.6 died for good earlier this week, the servers closed.
Now you'll have to get 3.3.
lion7718 > sorry man, but ar u blind or what!!!, :fire after seen all the users here in the board having troubles and finding bugs in all 3.x u still say "2.6 died for good".
come on man i know probably if it worked fine for me too i would be one of those selfish guys saying 2.6 died for good :P.
but thats not the case in any sense first because im not that unsensible and second because still don't work fine with me.
2.6's wpn died because the programmers of winmx were enough blind to see or to care about developing a new bug free version.
who cares about all those leech thingies like autoqueue or autosearch or the lots of colors if people cant keep the system without crashing or reboots or freezing windows.
I wonder why WinMX freezes up, and what they could do to fix it. Mine freezes up for about 20 seconds at a time even while connected to the secondary connection. I noticed that it freezes more when connected to several "opennap" servers than when connected to the WPNP.
If you're running XP, try running WinMX in W2K compatibility mode by right clicking on the exe file. Worked for some friends of mine with slower PCs. Or you could switch to secondary connection, if that helps.
