hi i just got a ps2 game file and i got dvd burner but im not sure what format i should burn it to so i can play it on my ps2. is it just burn the whole .iso file to the dvd ? or? pleasse help
Get nero, and select "burn image", and find the .iso file, and let er rip.
thanks, so if its .iso file i just use burn image to the dvd right? what if the files is not in .iso? like few folder and stuff?(still ps2 game file) what should i do than? btw do i need to twek my ps2 to play those dvd games? i remember i hear something about how you need to add some kinda stuff to the ps2 so it can play not only the one you buy in store?
Ok, if you dont have an .ISO file, look for a .CUE file. That is the image file which will "direct" the recording process. If its all in a .ZIP file, dont extract it. Just go to "burn image" and select the .ZIP file.
And you would probably need a mod chip installed in your PS2.
You need a modchip, some you need to saulder to the board inside the ps2 others you can just plug them in. Or you can go the bootdisc route its a spimple disc that you insert before the burnt copy and then you swap the disc with the burnt one. You can also you a gameshark or similar cheating devices alhough make sure its one that comes with a memory card looking thing. Up to now the only cd/dvd bassed consol that you can play without some type of modification is the dreamcast. Hope that helps.

hmm modchip eh? where i can get it? ^^;; or the bootdisc? ....or can you show me the gameshark or cheating devieces that comes with a memory card looking thing? thanks!!!
Thats odd that you were able to play a ps2 game your friends ps2 game. Maybe you had a modchip preindtalled into your system, that or he did some other trick.
Theres 2 dif ones for the cheat device. Theres the action replay and gameshark, I believe they both work for the trick. Personnally I have no experiance from it and have only read about it on the net. The action replay looks like this http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~gamers...ps2-ar2_v2.jpg and the gameshark like this http://www.ps2cheats.com/cheats/ps2/..._gameshark.jpg. Im not sure exactly how you do it im sure you can find the information on the internet.
As for modchips I dont know of any reliable sources. Look around on the internet ask someone on here maybe. I dont have a ps2 so I dont know. I only have a psone moded. You can also find the bootdiscs online. Although the best method is the sauldered modchip. Test the game on your system first maybe you have a modchip without knowing. If it works then great if not you are missing any of the prementioned tricks.

I have done the first method you mentioned (using action replay) many times. It does work, but (in my opionion) its not worth the effort.Originally Posted by mountain_rage
its hard as hell to do. Since virtually all downloads are meant to be used with a mod chip, and not booting from an AR/GS, a certain file (system.cnf) is not located where it needs to be on the image files. getting it to the right spot isn't that much of a hassle - just using isobuster and CDgen. The problem comes when trying to fit the new image onto a CD (DVDs aren't as much of a problem, as most games don't take up the entire DVD) When the game is ripped to fit on a CD, the rippers try to salvage as much as possible, using up usually all 700MB of a disk. However, when you move the system.cnf file, you offset the rest of the files on the disk, adding up to 20 MB to the disk. Here comes the fun part. You have two choices in this situation: 1) make an overburned CD. This doesn't work too well with PS2 games. The best result Ive gotten from this method was soul calibur 2 - it worked, but a few characters were unplayable. Or 2) you can try to reorganize the CD so that it fits within ~703 MB. This is a royal pain in the ass. Its taken me a couple hours to do this on some games, and in the end, they often don't even work.
either get a mod chip or don't bother.
a mod chip for playstation two is like $125.00, i don't think it is really worth it, but if you feel like modding your system go straight ahead and do it. While again, you said that your friend burned you a ps2 game on a dvd and it didn't need a mod chip, like someone said it could have come modded or shipped from japan or something, or the ps2 you are running doesn't need a mod chip to run burned dvds(games).. I know for burned cd's you need a mod chip because i had gotten my ps2 modded a couple of months ago and it works great, but i wouldn't do it again.
$125?!?!?! you got ripped.Originally Posted by mp3MaStA88

btw is DVD Decrypter any good? it work the same right? only nero just got more stuff other than the burner right?
and...is there any guild out there about dvd burner?
well im not 100% sure about this but does the mdf have 2 seperate images in them. Ive never encountered such a thing but maybe they have it now. The only thing i can think of is that you may only have half the game or you may be missing some rars.

Xhui wo'd pengyo, DVD Decrypter is for backing up copy protected video DVDs. It's not something you'd use for any other CD/DVD burning purposes.
