Hmm, scary... just recently veiwed Saw, it was pretty scary, imo.
Ici the Killer was extremely gory, dunno if scary is the right word.
A french movie called Irreversible was probably the most disturbing film I've seen in a while. (extremely difficult to stomach in places, shot in reverse (kind of like Memento), and the camera work was deliberately 'flighty' so that you felt unsettled)

John Carpenter's The Thing.... no competition.
I was seven when my dad took me to the show to see Poltergeist. I had problems sleeping for months.
Event Horizon was the most recent I have seen, people say the ring is scary shit but for me it was more like "this is the most fucked up shit...." so Event Horizon wins
There is already a thread or two on this but I say Bubba Ho Tep or Hellraiser
Hard as ever and here to make you people believe...as long as there is one person to hold hope and dream...A GOD...will never die!

Odishon (Audition) - Good Japanese movie, really scary, Psychological thriller seriously, the woman cuts off the mans leg with a wire. Hmm other ones? No, movies from hollywood fail to scare me, theyre all the same.
