Hi.
I'm a user of emule, but today I have tried edonkey2000.
I've downloaded it from what I believe is the official website.
http://www.edonkey2000.com/
I believe the program has a lot of spyware!
After I've instaled it my Firewall starts alterting me that strange new programs wanted to connect with strange new sites.
I did'nt like it, and I've tried to uninstall the program. But it tried to resist!
I couldn't remove the program completely, there is still some files that refuse to delete, but I believe the firewall is stoping the spyware, I'm very unhappy with this!
Emule, Sheraza or Azureus never made anything like this.
Its not aceptable that a program, or a piece of it tries to work as spyware after you remove it. This is why I'll never use Kazaa again.
Best regards
Fresquinho
LOL,
Not a bit of truth in this thread. There's an adbar in edonkey but no spyware. As far as not being able to uninstall, I've uninstalled Overnet/edonkey2000 many times. Never a problem. If you've got "strange new programs wanting to connect with strange new sites" it's not because of edonkey. Sounds like you need to make friends with a Virus scanner, and a spyware/ad-aware scanner(s).
I'd say Fresquinho's spamming, but what would (s)he be spamming? And honestly, what's this thread's point, anyway?
I fail to see the point also. Seems like he solved his own problem with added commentary. Thread closed.
17 USC § 1008 Prohibition on certain infringement actions:
No action may be brought under this title alleging infringement of copyright based on the noncommercial use by a consumer for making digital musical or analog musical recordings.
There's nothing wrong with the original ed2k. No spyware, no adware if you put their add servers in your host file. It does not "resist" when you try to uninstall it. And it doesn't install any exe's besides itself, so your firewall shouldn't be detecting anything new.
