It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

You might get slapped down for using BT. It uploads at the same time as downloads and uploads are not among the things sanitized by the Supreme Court.
As far as I can tell whats happening is in the US the Movie companies are hiring companies to track down file sharers of there stuff, then they go to court and with an ip address they go to the ISP to find out whos ip it is.
Basically in Canada as far as I know the Supreme court said that getting someones personal info from an ip is an invasion of privacy and u can't do it.
So for now Canadians are pretty much safe from prosecution.

actually what happened in canada is the courst said that we cannot be responsible for allowing files for uploading because we have no way of knowing that the person is infringing. They compared it to a photocopy machine in a library, it will more then likely be for copying a book but how do they know. Your not forcing or asking anyone to download the files. They have to actively search for it and then download it. Although downloading is also legal because you canot know that the person has to right to distribute the file.

then why the hell is it not that way everywhere sharing hurts no one only helps to promote
I don't think it would matter at this time because the courts haven't really gotten to other countries, mainly just the united states.
