    Controlling Bittorrents

I've been using Shareaza for my Bittorrent transfers now for quite some time. The only problem I have is this:

    1) I share a net connection with 3 other people.
    2) Shareaza's upload limiter does affect my BT transfers.

Does anyone know a way to "choke" your BT transfer in Shareaza? I appreciate the ability to set my uploads at a lower rate for the other uploads, but the problem is my BT uploads always seem to kill my net connection and thus piss off the others using it.

I don't think this kind of thing is limited to just Shareaza as being a problem. I just don't see any reason why my connection has to die in order for me to be able to download something. I don't mind downloading slower because I'm uploading slower.

    Grab a copy of netlimiter - http://www.netlimiter.com/

You can control the upload and download speed of any application on your computer - it's great (i personally use it for Ares b/c Ares doesn't let you limit the partial upload speed, and I also share my net connection with others)

That is one thing which really pisses me off about Ares. I hadn't thought of net limiter - good idea.
I'm not really malicious. I'm a nice guy.
If you are even slightly concerned about your BT speeds, please check this thread.

But BT is really going to suck if you limit its upload speed. If you don't mind downloading at 5/kbs or less go for it. Other wise us a real BT client when you want to use BT.
