Question Bittorent Firewall LAN help needed

    Hi

I need help with using Bittorent behind a passworded firewall. I trying to use bittorent on a University LAN. I am not the administrator nor do I have the password but I am a student.

The system runs windows 2000 and it has a very fast internet connection.

If we successfully solve the problem and I start using BT (--abbreviation) and download say 4 GB a day on my student account; will it get noticed by the administrator?

If so then I think I need bittorent to work from a CD loaded operating system, so that it does not alter windows 2000 installed on the hard disk.

Have you ever tried using BT on a firewalled and passworded LAN?

    Have you succeeded?

Please read and answer fully, carefully and please make your replies easy to understand because I could be called a newbie.

    Thanks you very much.

If you definitely know how to solve my problem then maybe we should communicate through instant messaging because it is faster.

    Thanks again.

I don't think that you are going to get by a campus firewall and even if you could, the university would bust you and take away all your internet usage. They monitor all the traffic on their servers and you really shouldn't risk it. If you want to use BT move into a house off campus and pay for your own net service.

Dude, its basicly impossible. Unless you can hack their password, which I believe is illegle and could get you kicked out of college.

Are u an expert hacker? Does not seem like it. I do not believe in state laws only religious laws. I wont get chucked out if i dont get caught. I think if I hack into the admin account the real administrator will find out and block my downloads, correct me if i am wrong about the admin bit. I can load linux live CD - an OS which does not use the hard disc for OS files. I think a live OS is the best option. I will take anyone as long as it allows me to download stuff on the bittorrent network.

I do not mean to be rude, forgive me if you have taken offence.

    Thanks

I dont know about the whole live OS thing, but I do know that BT is very difficult to get working. The NAT needs a lot of attention and setting up. You wont have the access rights for this. You therefore wont get credit for your upload and therefore you wont see any speeds sustained past 5 or less kbs.

If you are even slightly concerned about your BT speeds, please check this thread.
