Sucks, don't it. Our (British) Navy already bought a load of Windows 2000 licenses. Idiots.

hmm. The government even has it's own Linux Distro. Sorta. The NSA makes SELinux and distributes it along with the kernel.

Awww, crap. Thank goodness I got out when I did...I don't know why the Air Force is going to a Windows only network. I'm hoping the Gateways, Proxies, Firewalls, and Mail Servers don't go to Windows...otherwise, yeah, the Air Force is screwed....
The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.

    what?

I believe linux can be just as windows can be. It depends on the user and the secuity configurations. I've used linux quite a while now but i like windows better.Windows is a great operating system just like linux. People want to consider linux elite for some reason. To each his own. I'll put my xp machine against anyone's in a security test.

and since we're on an flame microsoft trip here:

    Abort, Retry, Ignore.
    (Apologies to Edgar Allan Poe)

Once upon a midnight dreary, fingers cramped and vision bleary,
System manuals piled high and wasted paper on the floor,
Longing for the warmth of bed sheets,
Still I sat there, doing spreadsheets:
    Having reached the bottom line,
I took a floppy from the drawer.
Typing with a steady hand, I then invoked the SAVE command
But got instead a reprimand: it read "Abort, Retry, Ignore".

Was this some occult illusion? Some maniacal intrusion?
These were choices Solomon himself had never faced before.
    Carefully, I weighed my options.
These three seemed to be the top ones.
Clearly, I must now adopt one -
    Choose : "Abort, Retry, Ignore".

With my fingers pale and trembling,
    Slowly toward the keyboard bending,
Longing for a happy ending, hoping all would be restored,
    Praying for some guarantee
    Finally I pressed a key --
But on the screen what did I see?
    Again: "Abort, Retry, Ignore".

I tried to catch the chips off-guard --
I pressed again, but twice as hard.
Luck was just not in the cards,
I saw what I had seen before.
    Now I typed in desperation,
    Trying random combinations.
Still there came the incantation -
    Choose: "Abort, Retry, Ignore".

    There I sat, distraught, exhausted, by my own machine accosted;
Getting up, I turned away and paced across the office floor.
And then I saw an awful sight,
A bold and blinding flash of light,
A lightning bolt that cut the night and shook me to my very core.
The PC screen collapsed and died,
"Oh no -- my database", I cried.
    I thought I heard a voice reply,
"You'll see your data -- Nevermore!"

To this day I do not know
The place to which our data goes4
Perhaps it goes to Heaven where the angels have it stored.
But as for productivity - well,
I fear it has gone straight to Hell.
And that's the tale I have to tell -
    Your choice: "Abort, Retry, Ignore".

*this was copied i take no credit* all in good humor too, hell, i bought and use win2k

In that case you'll lose. Yes, Linux has its faults, but its whole architecture is far more security-oriented than Windows' is. XP is great compared to the horrors of 95, 98 and Me, and for the home user there's no real x86 alternative, but that doesn't make it a good operating system.

People don't want to consider Linux elite - they do so because that opinion of it is justified. Every post I've seen from you recently is incredibly big-headed - if you think something, that must be the way it is. Well, you're wrong, especially in this case.
