    Download stopped !

I have been using Torrentopia for the last two weeks and everything has worked fine.

Now suddenly I have a download that is being stopped. Every time I try to restart, it seeds for a short time but is then stopped again.

The file is 88.2% finished. Clicking on details I get
    Seeds: 1 Peers:12 DistCopies: 0.998

    Checking tracker I get:

    Seeds: 62 Peers: 654

Can anyone tell me what is going on?

My guess is a port problem. If you are using zone alarm 5, that is the problem. I have not used Torrentopia, I use Shareaza and ABC. In a simular situation, I would right click on the file,a dn click on "Find more Sources" but since I am not familiar with the application, I can't tell you what to do.

When you download a .torrent, your computer contacts the tracker for a list of sources. Torrentopia would then request a segment from the sources that are available. As the sources change, the number your computer knows about decreases. If you have Toeerntopia request a new list of sources from the tracker (in my case find new sources), that information is refreshed. You can also exit Torrentopia for a while, and when it restarts it will get a new list of sources from the tracker.

Make sure your ports are forwarded through any firewall, including the Windows XP firewall.

In an effort to protect its content, the MPAA and RIAA have people with computers set up to send bad chunks of data as part of a download you are receiving. You may also be running into that. I use Shareaza to download from bittorrent and use ABC to seed (uploar) to other people. Shareaza has a security update that blocks those IP address used by the MPAA and RIAA for those bad chunks. You can download PeerGuardian to block the IP addresses for those bad chunks.

I don't know if this has helped, but good luck!!!

    Heres your problem
    DistCopies: 0.998
. Thats not even a full copy. It has to be greater than 1 (100% of the file vs. only 99.8% of the file) which is an entire copy.

    Try a different bittorrent client.

    > It has to be greater than 1 (100% of the file vs. only 99.8% of the file) which is an entire copy.

No. The number of distributed copys refers only to the peers that have not got the complete file.
If there is one or more seeds the download should complete eventually.

Distributed copys refers to the number of available copies of each peice. If you aren't seeing at least a 1.0 you're not seeing a full copy of the file, thus not being able to download after a certian point.

The value show in azeures is an availability value not a distributed copys value.

Isn't that about the same thing? If its not 100% available than you won't get a full copy.
