Here is a challenge to you all.
I run Virtual PC on a Mac which means that I get a perfect PC-environment inside my Mac.
It's running the Windows 2000 Professional and I have installed the latest stable version of DC++ in it.
The Mac has an built-in software firewall and I also have a router with a firewall enabled.
I have open ports in the router as well as in the software firewall.
The problem is now that I cannot use the Active mode with DC++. I can check it, enter my outbound IP and specify the open port but I cannot search the hubs.
When I switch back to passive mode I can search the hubs and download but some hubs kick me because the say that I state Passive mode while the tag states Active.
When I browse the web with Explorer in the PC-environment it gives me the same outbound IP-address (81...) as when I browse in the Mac-environment so the IP-address seems to be shared correctly.
But when I check ipconfig in the PC it gives me a different IP-address, like 192.168.135... (NOT in the 192.168.0...series that the router gives my machine inbound). Also +myip in a DC-hub gives me the correct outbound IP (81...)
Also when I have the PC-env running and try to disable the software firewall in the Mac it says that some other software firewall is active and I cannot do it. It makes me think that either W2000 has an built-in firewall activated somewhere which I must stop or that Virtual PC has a way of behaving that stops the Active mode from behaving as it should.
Maybe VPC is listening to a specific port.
I'm not really a network-guy but I hope that someone sees this clearly.
I can tell you this much...W2K does not have a built in firewall.
