Although GameCube owners still get first crack by many months.
Resident Evil 4 is on its way to the PlayStation 2, Capcom announced today. The once GameCube-exclusive fourth installment in the popular survival horror series will hit Sony's console at the end of next year in Japan, North America, and Europe.
"We will strive for developing Resident Evil 4 to feature of each characteristic of the console platforms," reads the announcement from Capcom's Japanese headquarters. The English isn't clear, but it suggests that we'll notice differences between the GameCube version -- due out in North America January 11 -- and its subsequent PS2 counterpart. Whether the PS2 version will feature any improvements on its predecessor is an open question, since the long wait could be the result of many possible factors.
The rest of the announcement suggests that overseas sales were a factor in the decision to move Resident Evil 4 to a new platform. "Recently, the videogame industry has shown steady growth focusing around the U.S. as well as Europe...Under these environments, we have come to this conclusion after deliberating over customers' needs, market environments, and various opinions from stakeholders such as shareholders or investors."

as always... any game on the ps2 will be washed out and grayish in color... along with the jaggies... If you want it to look good, you will still get the GC version. The ps2 is vastly inferior to the box and cube in hardware... it is really looking aged.
"There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17... I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice… The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd."
I am getting the gc version because of what wingnut says and since I have both might as well go with the best :)

I may go GC since I have RE1 and REŘ for it. I might wait for the reviews for each system also. I wouldn't jump on the "GC is better" band wagon so quickly. I believe that the RE2 and RE3 versions for GC had poor reviews, though they are obviously better than the PS1 versions. I also enjoy the PS2 controller moreso than the GC for RE.

Well control wise, PS2 is better. you're right. but gc has the better quality. Some searching says the order of game systems graphics goodness is ps2, gamecube, then xbox. So I will just go with the version with the slightly better graphics and slightly worse controls. I'm an eyecandy person.
