    ISP ( or AT&T ) currently blocking ed2k

About 3 or 4 days ago my d/l's on emule started slowing to a crawl. Previously I've been getting a min of about 20/kbs to around 120/kbs. I'm on InsightBB and I've found some threads on other forums concerning AT&T somehow blocking ed2k on Insightbb and other cable companies. I can get Kad to connect and I get plenty of sources, but when it's my turn in the que, the download seldom hooks up. I tried EDonkey and Shareza both and neither would connect to the ed2k network. I uninstalled emule 0.44b and re-installed. Same scenario. Uploads have slowed to almost nothing as well. I tested my speed at DSL reports and am getting a max of 400/kbs down and 12/kbs up. The strange thing is surfing does not seem to be affected. The cable techs have done diagnostics and say there's nothing wrong with my equipment. They're coming soon to test the lines or something, but seem genuinely perplexed. Anybody else experiencing this type problem?
Oh, by the way, I'm using Soulseek, and it's blazing away faster than ever.

Sounds like you're not the only one having a problem with AT&T. Check out this article from Slyck. http://www.slyck.com/news.php?story=590

Just switch it from the default port of 4662 to something random.. like 2992.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

    ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
    AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
    Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
    Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer

    Also sporting a black MacBook
    Revision/Release 1
    Upgraded to 2GB RAM.

Oh, then I suppose my little quick-fix may not work for this type of problem.

undefinedYup - tried that and I saw the Slyck article which made me relize it wasn't something I'd done. The cable guy just left and verified that it was AT&T doing it and he could not use his P2P program and this was about the 10th similar call he'd been on today.

Switch companies, they will eventually catch on that home users use broadband for p2p and other applications.

OK, I called and complained to tech support at the cable company. The guy I talked to had never heard of ed2k, he said, and acted clueless to any port throttling/blocking, etc. I expressed much displeasure at the situation and reminded him that he had competition. This afternoon, I'm d/l at about 260kbs. Never had emule go so fast. Hmmmm.

cox is doing the same. around the time cox up the upload speed to 50 KBps or something like that all of a sudden no one was uploading from me anymore even when I had the popular norton 2005. another thing that would happen is my connection would kill after a couple hours. i killed my firewall to see if it was causing the problem...but nope, it wasn't. i figured it had to be cox. i could upload on the ed2k network but when connected to g1/g2 no uploads took place. i switched from cox to bellsouth and am not having the upload problem anymore. my main problem with bellsouth is the speed.
