    iPod iPOd iPOD!

    http://www.apple.com/ipodphoto/

OMG OMG OMG. I'm sorry. this is a major freakout point for me. I'm glad I didn't get a 4G iPod after all. Now I have to take back my words about there being no evidence of one. You've gotta admit tho, the ppl have been spreading rumors about a photo iPod for a while. Now it's here. Now I'm out to buy myse'f one :)

iPod Photo: Why Should Your Ears Have All the Fun?
    Source

A delight for the ears. A feast for the eyes. Though it’s no bigger than a pack of playing cards and weighs in at just over 6 ounces, iPod Photo delivers a one-two sensory punch. Letting you carry an entire library of your favorite music — up to 15,000 songs — or enough photos — as many as 25,000 — to fill nearly 200 slide trays or cover nearly 5,000 square feet of wall space. Got a really big den?

The newest member of the iPod family, iPod Photo comes in two sizes: a 40GB model, available for $499, and a capacious 60GB model that sells for $599. Both feature a razor sharp LCD display that lets you see your photos in vivid color — 65,536 colors, to be exact. And with its built-in backlighting, you’ll be able to admire those photos indoors or out.
Take Your Photos for a Spin

Like its famous siblings, iPod Photo features the touch-sensitive Apple Click Wheel that’s the envy of the industry. You’ll use it to navigate iPod Photo’s new menu. Now in living color, its easier to read than ever. That’s thanks in part to the clarity of the display — it offers 220x176-pixel resolution — and in part to the new Myriad typeface. Spin the wheel to Music, and you can scroll effortlessly through dozens of playlists, hundreds of albums or thousand of songs. . . .

    Enjoy Improved Battery Life

Whether you’re on a transcontinental flight or an extra long hike, if you plan to listen to music for hours and hours, iPod Photo has you covered. Fully charged, it lets you enjoy up to 15 hours of continuous music; or up to 5 hours of continuous slideshows with music.(2) Use the FireWire or USB 2.0 cables to quickly charge the batteries. Or use the iPod Photo Dock that comes with both 40GB and 60GB models.

    U2 iPod

Like no other, iPod U2 Special Edition stands out. Jet black, it bears a prominent red Apple Click Wheel and, on the flip side, the autographs of each U2 band member. Available for just $349, it comes with an exclusive U2 poster and, of course, the signature white iPod earbuds. As an extra special treat, it includes an iTunes Music Store coupon you can use to get $50 off your purchase of “The Complete U2.” As unique as the iPod itself, this digital boxed set brings together an amazing 400 U2 tracks. Songs span the band’s celebrated career. From “Boy” to “War” to “The Joshua Tree” to “Zooropa” to the soon-to-be-released “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb,” it includes every U2 album and brings us over 25 rare and unreleased tracks. Look for it on the iTunes Music Store at the end of November.

COOL! 40 & 60gb arequite large. I think though, that seeing how the normal ipod at 40g is real expensive, how expensive is this gonna be? Overpriced again probably...

It makes sense for Apple to release this, since iRiver already has their own model with a color screen and picture support. It's called the H340. It's $70 cheaper, has FM, and more filetype support too, etc.

I have the older H120 model, I choose it over the iPod. Glad I did...

this is ok i almost like the fact that it has a color screen over the fact that it supports images though i could see if you could download them directly from your digi cam that would come in handy but to just carry photos around on such a small screen to show them off i don't see the point i'm even more excited about the black ipod then this one
help me get a free ipod and win one yourself check here for more info

I felt really sick today. I heard about these U2 iPods so I had a look at Apple's share price and it's close to $50. I could've bought $15000 worth six months ago at $25 a pop. I thought I'd missed the boat when they went up from £14 to £28. Seriously in a pissed-off mood right now.

I am going to hedge my bets and go with the new archos gmini XS. I already own the av300 video player and I love it. So why not try the new smallest 20gb hard drive they have to offer. www.archos.com just look for the gmini 200xs.
