Looking for a private hub.

Before the onslaught of your stupid posts I do realize that I need "to put in my time" on DC before I get invited. I have been sharing via bittorrent for awhile now and have aquired some good stuff (100+gigs). I like to get tv shows, movies, howard stern stuff, michael moore, extreme sports vids. whatever. I tried DC on a whim and WOW! My speeds are so much faster. Can't believe I was wating my time. That said. Can anyone reccommend a public site that users here use that I can prove myself in. Sure, I can find plenty of public hubs and share some good stuff, but how would anyone here know? Any suggestions?

hmm private hubs. make your own and then make it really exclusive.

Glad you have alot of time to make quality additions to the forum. Keep your politics away please. I like Mike's pre 911 stuff. Anyone have anything QUALITY to add to my request?

First maybe you should start out with a little bit of friendly conversation. With your "stupid posts" comment many will ignore you or just respond with more flames. So please, lets start over.

No one on any forum is going to invite you into a private hub until they feel like they know you. This could take a long time. This best way is to try and find contacts using DC. If people like what your sharing, it sounds like you might have some good files, your more likely to get an invite. If you have common garbage you will be stuck in the public hubs. Thats just the way it is.

I was not trying to insult anyone, and if I did I apologize. The fact of the matter is that whenever someone asks to be invited into a private hub they are immediately told that they are stupid for asking. I thought I would try to create a constructive post that would detail how one might become more involved and active. Most of the public hubs connect me to someone in Scandinavia and very little chatting takes place. I get decent files but I have to sift through the foreign language stuff. So here goes again. Does someone know of any american public hubs that one might be able to use to create contacts that I can use to be more involved in the community?

You are right about people being quick to jump on new posters. It happens a lot. So I see what you mean. I myself do not know a great deal about DC and infact have not used it for a very long time. Mayhaps some users will see your post and tell you were to start.

the chance to get into private hubs has probably passed

american public hubs lost their good users when all the udgnet hubs got busted, and for the most part, if someone has access to a private hub, they don't bother with public hubs at all anymore

the odds of getting into a private hub at this point in the game are slim to none

I've been here for somewhere around a year and used DC over half that time, I've yet to see an invite to a private HUB and I have a near 200GB to share, good luck dude, you'll need it.

There are people here that uses DC, but it will take time to get to know you so don't rush! Try other p2p networks for a while & build your library that way.

Well then maybe you guys can help me this way. So far I hve tried torrents and I really like them but DC is alot faster. Also, I can dl at the same time my wife uses the net. She doesn't even notice. This is not the case with bittorrent. When I use bit torrent I hear a scream from afar "what the hell did you do to the computer now. I just want to check my email" Not sure why bit torrent being slower would block the net, but whatever, it does and I have tried many things to fix it. What other p2p networks should I try that are fast and convenient like DC?

Considering recently several DC hubs got busted ppl have become very security conscience. It takes just one mole to bring down a good private hub. In old days invites were more common since there was less focus on DC. Unfortunately now it has become harder to get in for newer ppl.

Get yourself the NetLimiter, so your wife can check for email & then you both will be happy!

Maybe you could try a BT client like Bittornado where you can limit your upload. Saving yourself about 5/kbs should be enough for her not to really notice anythings going on. Your upload being saturated really slows you down.

One other thing. BT is really fast! It maxes out my 3 meg connection quite a bit on popular files. Where most people make mistakes is downloading more than 2 torrents at once. This kills BT speeds. When I run just one torrent at a time the speed is much greater than multi torrent downloads. Not sure why, other than your download being proportional to your downloads, but its true. I can get most 700Meg files in about 2 hours.
