Can somebody explain in detail how the credit system in eDonkey/eMule works.
Do I only get credit from the user that is uploading from me? If that is the case this user has to have the file I am looking for or I will nor be able to download???
Is there any way I can check my credit standings?
I have 40 GB of shared files and everybody is uploading from me. When I try to download a few files I am only left waiting and waiting...... Sometimes half a day before a few bytes tricle in.
Any comment will be appreciated.
yeah seriously, how does it work? and also, how does credit (as in banking) work too? could you throw in that explaination too? everytime someone has tried to explain the credit system, i've felt like an american trying to understand cricket....

It's 'trickle' and eMule is prolly ur problem. Get eDonkey2000 v1. It has tripled its performance with the new release.
I am new to this forum and hoped that I would find some help but instead I find myself in a first grade class room.
If you upload to a user, you get credit for it (stored on their emule) so that you advance quicker through their queue when you are downloading off that same user.
This is not global however so the fact you have uploaded alot to one user is totally irrelavent when downloading off a different user, the credits won't count at all.
You can't check your credit rating as it is not stored on your own emule, it is stored on the clients emule you are uploading too.
If it is taking half a day to get anything then your settings are wrong or the files have very few sources. Try and download about 20 to 30 files at a time, set your upload to 80% of your upload capacity and leave your download limit unchecked.
