You can play them with Media Player Classic, you can also use Windows Media Player 9 (aka: WMP9), WMP6.4, ZoomPlayer, BSPlayer, TCMP, etc.

I could only play .mkv with VLC player. IIRC, .mkv is some kind of open-source codec.

download them, then expand the transfer list and it will show you a bunch of different sites that these ed2k links were released on.
