    Poll: opera vs firefox

i dont think the two have been put up aginst one another here at zp

i have on my system both, opera 7.54 and firefox.

i have mostly used IE and i am somewhat familiar with opera, as long time back i had used version 5 or sumthing

and after spending time with both firefox and opera, my verdict is opera is way ahead

the way u can customize everyhting in opera is great, i mean the way the u can make ur toolbars change and setup the way u want, i havent ever come across anything like this, and u dont need to fiddle with plugins, everything comes in 1 package

pages load quicker wiht opera, and it uses less RAM :gj

i found firefox boring and plain,

what goes in favour of firefox is that its opensource, and lot of minds are working it to make it better each day, so Good Luck!!

I started this thread not to offened any firefox users, please use both browsers and share ur experiences

and yeah you cant open Gmail with opera :tol thats a shame, but it will be solved in opera 7.6 (beta is available)

firefox is good in some ways, i would recommend it to newbies.
bad points about opera are that it has too many features hidden from immediate view, such as url filtering... also i could never get the hang of the inbuilt email client; i use mozilla thunderbird instead.

saying that, i prefer opera, ive been using it for quite a while and i know all the ins and outs of it and im used to how stuff works in it. i hate the default layout and skin at present, its terrible and cluttered and terribly cluttered, but as soon as you install a new skin, remove the cluttery bits (which can take a long time if you're new to it), its a great browser.

i keep both on my computer for testing out web designs etc, and i havent touched IE with a bargepole for years.

    Opera=good if you have patience
Firefox=good if you're looking for a quick getaway from IE.

    On balance I prefer Opera.

Opera makes it easier to navigate tabs, but Firefox has a better find feature.

Perhaps I need to spend some more time with FF.

I don't know how the opera works, but the firefox works really cool. it needs less resources, the speed is fatser than with usual internet explorer. which of them uses less resources? opera or firefox?

I'm a fan of simplicity, so I prefer Firefox. Haven't used Opera since v. 7.0something.

im guessing firefox uses less as it has less features built in, but it does depend on how many extensions you have installed etc. on mine, a newly opened firefox with no extensions uses 16MB of ram, and opera uses about the same. i dunno about processor usage and everything though...

an irrelevant poll for two irrelevant browsers.

how exactly is it irrelevant? they're both browsers, and they can both be compared.

    opera is the best

It uses less resources than mozilla and it comes with a mail client and mouse gestures. It is faster also, even the mozilla help files tell you that. And yes i have used firefox (the newest version). It sucked
