i just wanna forward ports for abc.exe in zone alarm pro
my normal d/l speed is appr. 130 kb/s, but with bittorrent its 10 to 20 kb/s. I checked that color tutorial also by someone on this forum, i searched the net for 3 hours and i still cant find out the SIMPLE steps to forward ports in zone alarm pro for abc.exe.
How the hell do i do this? They say 'click on options and put the port range in there', but how do i have to write this, and it what field etc. Im clueless, i hope u guys can help me out.

w00t!
well, i used the free version of zone alarm for a while with abc, and the only ports i had to forward were on my router
so, i'm saying that if you have a router, make sure it's configured correctly. if that's not the problem, make sure zone alarm approves abc for both internet and act as a server

i dont know anything about routers. I only use this comp thats connected to a adsl modem. Plus another comp is also connected to that same modem.
I already accepted abc.exe for internet and ating as a server. I saw somewhere on some forum (i dont know which one i been on 20 today) that when u got zone alarm uve got to do this port forwarding.

No, a router is an external piece of hardware that allows many computers to share an internet connection. As you have numerous computers connected to your modem, it's probably got a router built-in. You need to access the configuration of the router (try typing 192.168.0.1 into your address bar) and forward some ports to your computer for BitTorrent to run through.

ok i had a brilliant idea and it appears i got a thomson speedtouch 510 i. So i checked portforward.com and they got all speedtouches 510's except the 'i' . I tried to visit the addresses for the setup for al the other 510's, and its all 192.168.1.1 but this doesnt work either.
* edit: i was too fast, right now im on the thomson setup site. Ill keep yall updated.

ok right now i can setup the ports. I can put in an 'inside port' and an 'outside port'. I wanna put in the ranhe of the bittorrnt, and thats 16881 to 16999 (i changed em cuz of the advice of that bittorrnt tut on this forum) . Do i have to put the first one in the 'inside port' box and the 2nd in the 'outside port' box?

i changed it to 16881, both. Plus the range in the ABC setting is still 16881 to 16999.
Now horizontal banners are just gone on random sites. Theyre just gone. And abc is still slow as always: 5 kb/s download speed! Wow! Back to 10 years ago. I dont like this.

It sounds like you correctly forwarded the one port. The inside port is the port on the internal machine that you want to map to. It isn't related to the port range.
The original 510 does not allow specifying a port range. You would have to set rules in the router for each port.
The good news is that in bittorrent you only need to have a port open for each file transfer, so if you are only dealing with a file at a time you should only need to open the one port you have opened. In other words you don't need the large range that faq typically state.
Or if you would like you could set your range in abc to something like 16881-16884 and create a separate rule for each of the 4 ports in your router port forwarding section.
At any rate you presently have the one port 16881 forwarded so you need to adjust your setting in the abc port range section to reflect that.

so if i make 4 rules with for instance 16881, 16882, 16883, 16884 and the port range in ABC 16881 to 16884 it has got to be ok. Im gonna try that - tomorrow. I dont think its good for my blood pressure to go on with this tonight ;)

Should be. Keep in mind each transfer wants a port so don't try to transfer a bunch of files simultaneously.
You also have to make sure that your zonealarm settings are correct.
You don't "forward ports" in zonealarm, but the ports have to be open in the firewall.
Make sure that in the program control / programs section that you have both access and server sections check marked for the abc application. Server section has to be checked as well or inbound won't be allowed.
If you want to you can tighten up rules by opening only certain ports for the application in the programs expert rules section. If you want to do this and have trouble post back and I will try to help.
BUT before you do this give full access and server rights to the abc applicationin zonealarm to make sure that everything is working properly.
Also make sure that you try the setup for a while with transfer of different files. There are many variables with file transfers and you won't always get good speed, even if you have your end of things configured properly, so you need to make sure that a problem isn't just a temporary thing related to a particular transfer.
