It was centralized, Kazaa is not. It can be easily taken down. The difference between GLT Poliane and AG is that AG was popular, GLT poliane has about 100 users.

And no, AG is dead. It's like asking if the original napster will be back in the future.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

    ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
    AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
    Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)

2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
    Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer

    Also sporting a black MacBook
    Revision/Release 1
    Upgraded to 2GB RAM.

I doubt it.. the last time I checked GLT Poliane was based in Brazil.. which is pretty far out of RIAA lawsuits. Although, I'm pretty sure people would get sued as they do on FastTrack now, if it got popular.

AG actually complied with RIAA requests more than any other p2p networks.

They used a hashing system to identify files and the RIAA said it wasn't good enough. (It's now the standard... used to find and verify files - used by p2p, anti-p2p bots, everyone!!, etc.)

The RIAA didn't like the way AudioGalaxy showed you other artists that were similar.. as these often pointed to indy labels/artists/etc. and artists they didn't have control over. For the RIAA, there was no option.. The monopoly couldn't be stopped... So AG had to be killed off.

    Peace!!

I never actually used it.. I guess I was blind.. I completely skipped from Napster to FastTrack. But back then, FastTrack was worth using.

AG could be used only to swap audio files, so it was music swapping tool, with millions of users, kazaa is a file sharing utility, and u cannot blame the software vendor, if his software is being used for illegal purposes such as swapping copyright protected audio files

What makes a p2p tool vulnerable is if it is
    a. Centralized - Napster and AG
    b. Only Audio - Napster and AG
    c. If the company is in USA - Napster and AG (AG i think)

and glt poliane has no more than 100 users, why the riaa would spend their resources trying to bring it down, oh yeah its in brazil so kinda not possible now

AG is still around, but as a pay service... it is now that Rhapsody program... sure, it doesn't have the lovely community and informational music links, but it is kinda there... The website was around for quite a bit after it stopped dling, but, alas, even that is now gone. :(
"There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17... I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice… The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd."
