Just wondering if anyone knows if there is spyware or adware in Poisoned. They claim they don't but I installed a demo of "Internet Cleanup' by Alladin Systems and once I start Poisoned I get a security alert that says an unidentified program is trying to contact a server. Not just one but many all over the world.
Tell me what you know..
is this a joke?
no there is no spyware, it is using the great power of PEER TO PEER to connect you to several gnutella, openFT and fasttrack hosts. there is no spyware for the mac.
This is no joke. I thought there was no apyware for mac but not too sure. I close Poisoned and this warning from Internet Cleanup still pops up. No idea where it comes from. scanned whole harddisk with zebra and no trojan's. any ideas? will post some samples of the message.
don't worry, poisoned is free and spyware free from http://gottsilla.net/index.php.
there is no spyware for the mac. A little adware like AIM and Direct Connect (in no way harmful) and a few viruses. The nature of unix just doesn't work with spyware. Windows is well documented for hiding processes, because microsoft allows it. If you're scared, open a terminal and type "top". If there's anything on there that is wierd (assuming you know most unix system processes, for darwin at least) then kill it and see what happens. at worst the kernel will panic.
Do the adware removers work on Mac?
Sounds like it was seeing a program trying to connect to other clients all over the world! It sees that poisoned is trying to connect to other people, it doesn't look bad from here.
