hi folks new to the forum so i hope someone can help me heres my problem

i downloaded a pc game of suprnova it downloaded in winrar format but when i go to extract it it asks me for a password. ????? :devil

it got me thinking y would someone bother putting a file on suprnova if they r just going to password it so people car`nt extract it makes no sense to me
thnx can any give me any tips

a lot of times a rar file will be password protected so people can't share it outside of a private tracker.

if you know the tracker it came from, then usually your go to their forum and the password is available.

there might be some rar password cracking programs out there too... think I've heard of a couple - sorry can't be more help...

ive had this problem before with stuff from suprnova
now usually what happens is the password is the name of the site which 'made' it.
so if the game or whatever was called 'jingjang' then the file name is usually 'jingjang by www.greattorrents.com' or whatever
now the password will normally be in this case www.greattorrents.com
alternatively if the site is named on the file name go onto that and look in the site for the password manually
also on suprnova on the right hand side of the file u want to download is normally the supplier and sometimes it a link . click on it and search for the password on that site

Juat for a heads up, asking for passwords here may be like asking for Warez.

Check with the mods first before asking, welcome to ZP :)

He's not asking how to crack the password or for passwords i guess, he's just asking on why it's passworded, and yeah i guess that's obeying the TOS.

So what how did you go about getting the password?
You were given a couple choices but didnt say which choice you took to get the password.
Im running into the same problem except my problem is doubled because the site it came from is a German site and me no speaka the language, or read it.
Anyway, did you get the pw from the site or did you download a program that breaks the pw.

usually password protected files come with an nfo file, and the nfo file generally has the password included.

But if the nfo file is within the rar file.. he's clean out of luck. Good to see he got it working.

I'm guessing he may have used the program you linked him to. Or they post the passwords to alot of files in the SuprNova forums. Or maybe he just got lucky with google.
