    Suprnova problem.....

Hi all, i'm a bit of a novice when it comes to anything remotley technical but till now i've managed to get by. That was untill Suprnova just stopped working for me.... I use BitTornado and every file I try to download gives me an error that states ".torrent is not a valid response". I have used the right click and save target since I got BitTornado and when it stopped working I tried the left click 'technique' but to no avail. I know my lack of knowledge will be amusing but please take pity! I miss Suprnova! I mean I have been using it for years now and nothing like this has ever happened! I am behind no firewall and to the best of my ability my PC is clean. Has anyone encountered this problem before?

I just found some information about my problem that may help. It's a slight jumble but although it may solve the problem I do not undestand it...

"Unauthorized download. We're sorry, but this downlod request cannot be authorized. There could be several reasons for this
You clicked on a link on an *unofficial* SuprNova.org mirror.
We do not allow that kind of external hotlinking. This site creates a great
deal of traffic and it's hard to find a good hosting. We will not provide the
bandwith for other sites. Please visit href="http://www.suprnova.org/" SuprNova.org and you can download all the torrents you want.
You're using a download manager. But there's a solution to this problem
Set up your download manager to send a HTTP referer, and when you click on
a link on the SuprNova.org site the download will be authorized. Here's how you can
    do this in Getright
Go to Getright Configuration, under Advanced/Protocol check Send "Referer"
in HTTP Request and then select Calculated from open web browser page.
The setup should be similar for other download managers.</p>

Your browser did not send a referer. This normally happens if you right
click on a link and select save-as, or if you copy and paste a link into a new
browser window and press Enter. It may also be that your browser is set up to
not send any referer. But left clicking on a link works
just fine and has been tested in IE6, Netscape 6, Opera6, Firefox and Safari

Some software firewalls, for instance the Norton Personal Firewall (which is
also part of Norton Internet Security) or ZoneAlarm remove the referer from
HTTP requests which will block any downloads on any site that does a referer
check. Hence such options should always be turned off. In Norton you have to
go to the Privacy Settings and disable browser privacy (which doesn't really
protect your privacy anyway as your IP address will always be logged regardless
of that setting), in ZoneAlarm you have to go to Privacy -&gt; Cookie Control
-&gt; Custom and uncheck &quot;remove private header information&quot

Software like AdSubstract also blocks the referer and makes downloads impossible We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and hope you understand our
reasons for doing so. Bandwith doesn't come cheap and we have to do all we can
to keep the bandwith usage down".

I got this off of a .torrent I opened in notepad. Any ideas how this info. can help me?

Suprnova.org has recently shut off access to third-party sites and applications. This is why BitTornado won't work for you.

Third party access had driven bandwidth costs up to an unacceptable level, so from now on, the only way to access suprnova torrents is through the official suprnova.org site.

No, it's not. Piano's post clearly shows the reason for this problem, and his source states that this will not change.

It's unfortunate, but needed to keep suprnova up and running properly.

Alright....I figured it out. If your using Norton internet security follow this steps:

To enable or disable Browser Privacy

    1. In the main window, double-click Privacy Control.
    2. In the Privacy Control window, in the Privacy Control settings for drop-down list, select the 3. account that you want to change.
    4. Click Custom Level.
    5. In the Customize Privacy Settings dialog box, check or uncheck Enable Browser Privacy.
    6. Click OK.

    Worked for me!!!

Umm I see what you guys are saying but even if I left click it just says "bad data from tracker". What do I need to have installed to use Suprnova now or am I just being a total idiot? (ammendment, It seems that the left click problem is just one of the links I was trying to click on and I am happily downloading again! Thanks very much for helping me out, it is appreciated!) :-)

For some reason I can only get files son Suprnova by using Netscape 7.1. Firefox, IE, Avant, Opera. None of them work now, even after the changes Suprnova recommends.
