I am currently running XP Home with SP2. Can I install XP Pro and switch over all of my windows information from XP Home? Like codecs, installed programs...etc. I dont want to have to reinstall everything because I would like to eventually delete XP Home and just have XP Pro. Any ideas (besides reinstalling everything)?
You can't upgrade from XP Home to XP pro. Just not possible. Someone might have some ideas though.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):
ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer
Also sporting a black MacBook
Revision/Release 1
Upgraded to 2GB RAM.

for some reason I thought it was possible.
They are the same OS with some extras with Pro.
You can upgrade to pro but you cannot go back to home.
I know that for sure.

I just checked MS's site - a Home user can upgrade to Pro.
I had figured....., SrBrunox all you have to do is slap in the pro CD and choose upgrade and it will keep all your settings intact (theoretically).Originally Posted by wonderboy2005
Once you go Pro though as far as I know there is no way back to home unless you clean install

This is pretty much useless to you now but to anyone who is thinking about doing the same thing and still has doubts, it worked fine for me also.
