Stop: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \Sys

What a Week!!! The only GOOD thing that happened was the fact that I became a member of Zeropaid!!!!

My first post was about IE6 and wanting to get rid of the $^&^$^%# thing and replace it with Fireox or Opera.

My second post...uh...what was it about??? Uh...Hell....must...lay ...offa...drinks...
Oh yeah...IE6 and FireFox...browser page won't come up. The software do...I can update my "store bought" software. The page doesn't. I use ZoneAlarm Pro...done ^%*&%& with the settings and all of that...which probably lead up to ...

Well...here comes the BIG problem....Y'all ready.

Dragged the old 800mz pc from outta the closet last night because of this message on my new pc:

Stop: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate :fire

Needless to say- I ain't got no hair left of my head 'cause I done pulled it all out!

(I betcha Bill Gates has an Apple at home...)
(I betcha Bill Gates is running Linux)
(just because someone OWNS at McDonalds doesn't mean he/she has to EAT at McDonalds-get my drift).

I'm at this page right now:

    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307545 :hole

If anyone knows of a quicker way to get my pc back up...PLEASE HELP ME!!

    Thanx in advanced !!!!!!

BTW: I get the infamous blue screen and windows won't start.
I've rebooted the pc with the XP cd in the drive and ....nothing happened.
I cannot go to safe mode, let alone windows starting normally.

You may try reformating the hard drive and then reinstalling xp. if this does not work, i will be back to check, and give sommore advice.

One thing you may want to try is inserting your XP Reinstallation CD and once it boots up there should be an option to repair the current OS installation. Another thing that you may have to do is boot into the safe mode on your XP Machine and install the patch that was in the Microsoft article(SP2) which I do not recommend. Just install all of the regular patches up to SP2. But if you run the repair option from the reinstallation cd that should fix the issue. Try that and see if it works. Let us know.
