Is it IE6 or ZoneAlarm Pro?????

    Hello everybody,
    Check it out...
I'm running XP Pro, my ISP is SBC. Haven't dl'ed SP1 or 2 (only because I "bought" my XP Pro at "Best Buy").
I installed ZoneAlarm Pro (which I "bought" at the store, too).
Trouble is....I click on IE, the browser comes up and that's it!!
Same goes for Firefox. XP's firewall is turned off, by the way.
Temp files, cache and all of the other stuff is cleaned out (i do that everytime I get off the net whenever I can GET on the net).
The ony way I can get on the net is by bringing up SBC's support Tool. Run the "I cannot browse the internet" link. It goes thru a process where it check your connection and then another link pops up that says, "Interner connection successful. Click the start browsing now link". I click the link and BAM!!!!! SBC's homepage comes up. Been dealing with this crap for a few days now. :tol
I've went thru and played with ZoneAlarm's settings (gotta be the culprit, huh?) and still nothing!
Anybody know of another type firewall that I could "Buy" from the store that's a little more friendlier to an internet connection?

    Mucj appreciated!!!!!

Try closing Zonealarm and run without a firewall (just for a few minutes) - just to check if you can connect to the internet

Otherwise, it might be something configured incorrectly under the Network Connections (in Control Panel) - i honestly can't help you much more from here, b/c I have a cable modem - but, i figure there's a few people here with DSL who can help

This is the way to go...if you can connect with ZA off...than check ZA to see if you gave IE & Firefox access. Once you do, you should be fine. If you still can't connect with ZA off...than it is something else...if so, you need to give more info.
