    WinMx ignore their users

I know WinMx doesn't feature Ads in the program and have no money, but they really should have some way to contact them on their site.

It's bad for us. Perhaps if they took user's opinions into account the program would be shaped into something more people want to use.

Have you ever wanted to tell them it's about as attractive as as a old style DOS console?

wINMX is fine. Every button is labeled, and if you can read, and you can click, the buttons are usable. You dont need HUGE ROUND PRETTY buttons. Winmx does it plain and simple, and it works just fine. I dont need all sorts of fancy graphics and extra gui features that knock down performance, I need a program that runs well and does what it says, and winmx does that perfectly.

and they dont ignore thier users. If you participate inthe beta test, theres an email there. Thats when they want the feature requests, when theyre testing. So take part in the next beta test and let them know what you think.

I like Wynona Ryder. I don't like Maggie Thatcher.

You don't get my point. If WinMx looked better, and easier to use, more people would use it. That's good for results.

It might be true that it alienates some people... but who says we need those 56k leeches anyway!

Um, well, theres already a lot of people using winmx. Its the 2nd largest network. (fasttrack has the most users). i belive the last time they did an ip count they got something like 1.5 million different ip's, so you know theres a lot of users on there.

Im 56k, and i dont leech. I share 3 gigs of stuff. Most leeches ive run into are broadband users. But either way leeches are bad.

    Those columns

Those columns when you do a search look like a DOS accountancy program. I keep expecting to see "Gross" and "Net" at the bottom of the listing.

Do you need all that info? I only ever use Status/Server.

If they ditched all but File (very handy), Bytes (good for spotting fakes), User (so you can say, "Please Colin can I go up the cue") Bit-Rate (for those pressing quality decisions - I hate having to hover in Kazaa) and Status/Server(see below for reason) I woudn't complain.

Green available, so pick the most users. Red unavailable - so pick with least in queue. I don't wanna freakin' Ping people.

Loos & works fine for me

Besides it keeps the mentally & socially challenged using the other p2p programs that we don't use. Some of you know which one's I'm talking about.

I think that WinMX need an official forum like BearShare, Shareaza, eDonkey etc.. with:
    - General Discussion
    - Feature Requests
    - Resolving Problems (Help)
WinMX doesn't have a community, i think this could help so much the developers..

    there's a community already

    I hope this helps:

    http://www.winmxcommunity.com

It's a kind of winmx community. They use a forum. The only drawback that I find is that you have to register to post in their forums. Other way is fine.

What do you think about this forum? Is it a real alternative?

I ask it because I am studying putting a link in my webpage to a WINMX FORUM. I don't know which one to choose Zeropaid one or WinmxCommunity one.

(There's also the alt.mp3.winmx group but I don't think most people use it.)

About Winmx appeareance:I think they should implement a simple interface as Kazaa, but with just clicking a button switch to classical interface which is ideal for advanced users.

    WinMx slow

I would try WinMx again if I was you. It shouldn't run slow, it should run just fine.

i can't vote on this subject... i have a few +'s and a few -'s about the interface. my main problem is, that it is sooo bulky. i don't mean size or ram in kb or mb, i mean, the window size and the number of buttons

i think that there are just too many options. slim out the buttons, space them out, use a nicer font then ms sans serif (altho 3.3 has an option to choose your own font :) ), and new icons and a better look would be nice. i think rounded buttons are a nice touch
