    Generate WinMX Hashes

I was wondering if there was any way to generate WinMX hashes for my files. I would like to give my friends a hash to search for, that way I know they are getting the file I want them to get. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it.

    Post perhaps this may help

    Well at:
    http://www.geocities.com/vlaibb/
you've explained the same methods but for other networks such as kazaa. (I tell you this in order to understand how it works)

    At http://www.incog.freeserve.co.uk/mxtool.html
you can find a program called MxTool that saves searches, I think it only works with winmx 2.6 version but I'm not sure.

I'm not absolutely sure if the tools does what you have asked for so if any doubts please contact its author. (You'll find his email at the mxtool webpage)

I am not sure WinMX uses MD5 or CRC to hash files, but I know eDonkey2000 or Sharaza uses MD5. You can get a MD5 utility from http://www.fourmilab.ch/md5/ this site. Hope this may help!

Well, if anyone could explain us more in detail how to obtain the hashes that are shown in:

    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.bucha...mx/movies.html

    It would be great.

I thought that Shareaza uses SHA1 hashes? But I'm probably wrong.

Hey Adrian15, you were close. At the top of that movies page is a link to this page: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.bucha...es-submit.html. You can find the link under "MX Movies" title and it's called "How To Submit". The page has details on how to find out the hashes for your files. I'm not sure if this method works on the 3.3 because I've never tried it myself personally. But I hope this helps.

    Thanks

I was able to use the last method to claim my hash number... Thanks for the help everyone. All we need now is a cute little app to make the process a bit smother.

Right click any download; click "search alternates".

That's the easy way to create hashes. Of course; this only works with any file (dl finished or not, both, i guess) in the "transfers-window".
