    ABC vs Azureus

    Hi!

Well, I've been using BitTorrent for a while and these do seem to be the best clients....

I've been moving away from ABC -- it seems to slow my system down to a crawl with massive cpu usage... Azureus is a memory hog.. but it's responsive and has low cpu usage... it seems to be my favroite client right now with the most features...

I'm hoping ABC will fix it's system slowdown with it's cpu usage because I don't exactly like that Azureus is java...

Anyway -- what do others think about these 2 clients and which is their favorite?

Azureus is the only client I've tried, so some of these may be true for all bittorrent clients, but here are my opinions.

Great connection, tracking, and download speeds. All good on the connection front.

Takes a LOT of bandwidth. When it's running, It makes it impossible to play online games and even slows the web browser quite a bit. Also, all computers on my network are slowed as well.

Too easy to trace. It kind of scares me how easy it is to find IPs.

Nice features. Chat is nice. Port fowarding by itself is nice. File selection is nice.

I don't mind java at all, so no bothers there.

Lots of memory. Don't get a problem there.

    ABC is better

I use ABC now, and i'm happier with it than any other prog. I'm currently seeding 5 and downloading 2 and my system is using about 40-50% of the Cpu. I'm running a p4 1.8 with 512 ram. My internet is 3mb cable. I don't have any problems with abc except maybe using all my bandwith, which is to be expected when i'm doing so much downloading and uploading at the same time. If i hit on hold all then i can claim all bandwith for internet use and it usually works within seconds of hitting the button. Overall, a great solid program.

I know in Azerues you can easily limit how much bandwidth it uses.. as well as how many similtanious connections it makes... so you can game...

I think i'm going to stick with it over ABC.. because I have 1 gig of ram... and I don't notice the usage as I do the horrendus ABC cpu usage.

Azureus all the way, I feel it's the best BT client.

Someone came by BK with their program called "BitBuddy". If you like ABC, then you should check it out. It has the same simplicity, but has more to it. The scheduler needs to be fixed from day to time (due next release) and it is lacking a health indicator. I've used a lot of BT clients, but this one really stood out.

So if anyone is looking to change, or thinks they could do better, don't forget to try this in your search:

I'm not really malicious. I'm a nice guy.
If you are even slightly concerned about your BT speeds, please check this thread.
