    Angry areslite problem

Hey. I have areslite. I have had areslite for a while now. i have never had a problem with areslite. Until now...

When ever AresLite is running, my computer runs like shit, and I check the performance tab in the task manager and my CPU is at 100%. It didn't start doing this until yesterday. I've uninstalled and reinstalled areslite, as well as various firewalls (I'm now using Norton 2003, which worked fine before yesterday) Any ideas?

If you check in your library, you will probably find that your file hashing is set too high. Set it to a lower percentage, and it should take up less of your cpu. Oh and welcome to the site.

    Exclamation That's not it...

AresLite isn't hashing anything...I left it running all day at school today and no progress was made in any of my downloads, and when i search for something (i.e. Nirvana, which should come back with millions of results) nothing comes up. I am without a clue.

    No, it's 2000.

btw i'm running K-lite right now...no trouble. but as soon as I launch ares, cpu use goes to 100% and everything crawls along until I close it.

Just out of curosity, have you tried regular Ares, opting out of nav helper of course.

Nope. It would probably run fine (since kazaa has no trouble) but areslite was running fine until a couple days ago and now its bugging the hell out of me.

The only possibly major thing that happened was that my trial on Zone Alarm pro ran out so I lost some protection (all that happened was I went back to the free version). At first I thought that was why everything was so slow, so I uninstalled ZA, cleaned out my registry and installed Norton Personal firewall. again though, it's not that as ares is configured on it exactly the same as kazaa, only kazaa works.

O4shO's description in the first link is perfect of what happens. It's not norton firewall...the problem started when I had zone alarm. I have Norton antivirus and system works too, maybe its one of them. Well, I'm off to work. maybe there'll be a solution waiting for me when I get home.
