Hey
My friend uses Dial up and his new computer doesnt kick him off when someone calls him. This is pissing off his mom so he needs a free program real quick that kicks him offline when someone calls. I was wondering if anyone knew of any free programs that will do that.
Thanks
Well it isnt supposed to kick you offline in the first place. I dont know any programs that do this automatically, although there are many that will give you a prompt when there is a call on the line, and you can switch over, talk for less than a minute, and still be online. But for this you need call waiting. Ill search around.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):
ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer
Also sporting a black MacBook
Revision/Release 1
Upgraded to 2GB RAM.
If he has a V.92 modem ,which he probaly does if the computer is new,it comes with a feature called Modem on Hold. This let's you pause your internet session to take the call. The modem manufacturer will probaly have free software on their website.
But when I was on dial up I just got a second line for $20 a month.
I don't need no stinking signature

It's not the cheapest, and you need to already have call waiting, but (i can say from experience) it works

(sorry, i just remembered this) - a friend of mine also used this when he had dialup - it's a few extra cents per bill, but it'll take a message while you're online
Heres another program to think about http://www.download.com/BuzMe-Servic...ml?tag=lst-0-3
Hard as ever and here to make you people believe...as long as there is one person to hold hope and dream...A GOD...will never die!
how about adding voice mail to your phone line
i pay like 6.23 cents a month for it.
say if your on the net or on the phone talking to someone the person who calls you will get your voice mail box and can leave u a message while your on the phone or net.
its not expensive and u can retrieve your calls anytime from any phone.
they give you a voice number to call you simply enter your password and read your voice mail, and can save it as well for 30 days.
that might be what you want
this is through verizon but i dont know the phone company you have so it might cost more or less
I recommend this
peace
