i've ran nero, outlook 2003 without error on windows xp sp2.

most of those applications only have problems because of the firewall. they start up full screen and the firewall pop-up dialog isn't visible until you exit the application.

if you disable the firewall, or use Alt+Tab to unblock the program on the first use...many of those programs will work normally.

can the xp firewall be disabled so you dont have to do this on sp2?

Solution from westlaw.com:

Add westlaw.com to the list of allowed pop-up sites:
This will allow pop-up boxes only from designated sites.

1. Go to the Tools menu.
2. Click Pop-up Blocker.
3. Choose Pop-up Blocker Settings... from the Pop-up Blocker sub menu.
4. Add westlaw.com in Address of web site to allow.
5. Click Add.
6. Click Close.

C&C Generals Zero Hour seems ok on sp2. Haven't tried it online though.

If this list its true for "don't work at all" then the title should be "list your programs that work with SP 2" :finger

Well.. it's not all bad... but how do p2p apps function and are the half-open-connection limits any problem when using BitTorrent, EDonkey/Mule, etc.??

I'm holding off SP2 until I get confirmation of it's effects on p2p apps.
