Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) provides new proactive security technologies for Windows XP to better defend against viruses, worms, and hackers. In addition to a more robust security infrastructure, SP2 improves the security configuration options of Windows XP and provides better security information to help users faced with security decisions.

Downloaded, but not installed as of yet. You know me,i will walk around it for a long time poking at it with a pointy stick, as I do with anything microsoft.

You put it a lot more politely than I would. On the plus side its a fast download.

I really dont think it will be a problem, but as always Im being cautious. Hell i ran xp with no updates for a year, but i kept things really locked down, and that is something most users dont do.

I downloaded both, although the larger one is for corperate users.

Thanks what I'm doing when it officially comes out. I'm just going to make a restore point in case it is horrible. But I don't think that will be the case here.Originally Posted by janett999
I dont think so, but I would still hold off on installing either one untill we get some feedback.

There's feedback all over the internet. I know I've talked to cpugeniusmv and he's said it's working great! He hasn't had to raise his limit on connections. He's says it's been holding out great so far.
I would visit some other sites and check out what everyone is saying that has the official version. So far I've heard it's good. :-)
Not exactly...it's for a corperate enviorment. Meaning they can use command line switches to saturate their network with it without needing to accept anything or actually do diddly to the systems themselves. It's bascially mass auto install....but all that really means is it's the full pack ...everything ... no download as needed personal use crap.Originally Posted by The Hunter

I have XP installed with SP2 currently. Works fine for me (however I turned off the Security Center because I know what I'm doing). Granted I've only had it for 2 days installed so far, but in those 2 days I've not encounted a problem XP-wise. (I did keep plugging in the wrong USB cable for 4 hours though and couldn't figure out why the printer wasn't installing. Duh.)

I've heard mixed reports on this. I'm going to wait until things become a little clearer.but....im still learhy....what if there is something hidden in this update that is activated when there is a update 3 or 4 months down the road that screws up any or all p2p apps?
