    Question Faster Emule???

I have a 56k modem and downloading is of course slow, but I was wondering is there a way to make emule download faster than like 2kb??? Or am I just stuck till I get a high speed connection/?

Sorry matey, you're stuck with that unless you get higher. With a 56k I have got speeds of 5kbs on kazaa lite. What client are you using?

with 56k and emule/ed2k u best say hail marys on ur computer lol it will be slow going. the content is usually the best so theres a trade off there. the slow speeds are the reason they have not surpassed in kazaa in my mind. I use bittorent when using my 56k

The idea of Bittorrent is that you dont search for the files in the actual program or anything - you search on sites like suprnova.org which list ".torrent" files, which are small files which you then open with bittorrent and it downloads the whole thing for you.

kazaa is much faster than emule because it can simultaneously dl from 8 different sources, whereas emule only dloads from 1 source per file.

hence kazaa can be very fast even on dial up, i used to get 5.5 - 6kbs over night.

in it's glory days kazaa was the greatest with over 4million users every day and you could easily find and dl most things.

emule is more difficult because of the credit system that rewards uploading and the long waiting times, but it's much fairer and penalises leechers.

Ok... lets clear up the rumour mill guys!

Emule is slow, your learn to love it though, or hate it and go back to some ghey network like Kazaa. Quality wins over speed everytime, for me anyway. Sure, you could get a file at 5KB/s on kazaa, but if you got to download it 5 times to get the right one, is it really worth it? Even on broadband emule is slow, the important thing is to share, and just leave it open aslong as possible.

As for Vinny, Emule downloads from multiple sources at anytime, I've easily had 500 sources, and have download from 5-30ish people at anyone time, but its got a queueing system so it isn't instant. Kazaa just works different, and is poop so its fast. I'l admit kazaa was good 2 years ago, but its pants today, and I wouldn't touch it, nor recommend it to anyone.
