I am a pretty new user to the whole downloading games and such from P2P, and I often have questions I can't answer cause I don't know. I am currently download a game from a P2P that is 740MB or so in zip format. There is a option that you can preview the file and when I click it it says the file is curropt or something, I was wanting to know if its just because the file isin't finished downloading or is the file corrupt and should I just cancell it now? Also my download speed is going an average of 2KB, and I have a 56K modem and dial up, is that speed normal or do I have to do something to speed it up?? Could someone please help me out...??THanks
Preview is only for audio and video files, not games.
Anything below 8 KBps is normal with 56k.. dont plan on getting up to anything past 7 though.. but it says the file is corrupt because you cant preview zip files. It's not possible the last time I checked.
Just my opinion.. I would make sure thats a confimed file before I would go download 740 MB on a 56k line.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):
ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer
Also sporting a black MacBook
Revision/Release 1
Upgraded to 2GB RAM.
I can't imagine trying to download a 750 meg file on 56k. It was slow enough just trying to browse bbs's in ascii.
Thanks. Yeah I ve been downloading scince like Sunday, and Its still not finished yet like two more days to go.
hey another question I have is that I've tried to dl movies before and like no of them worked, in fact the only ones that worked were these movies from TMG, I was wonder what that stands for like is it a file name or something and do you have to have a DVD drive of your pc to watch DVD movies you download??
Yup, that's about right.
Most likely you need the codecs required to play them. hold on a sec and I'll get you a link for a codec pack.Originally Posted by voltron540
TMG is the name of the release group. If the movies wont play they might need the proper codecs. If you perform a search for codecs in the forums you will get plenty of info.Originally Posted by voltron540

download the smallest k-lite codec pack
Cool Thanks.
Yes, TMG is a release group. They always include their name to get credit.
And yes, you must have a DVD drive installed to play retail DVD movies. If you could do it with a cd-rom drive, DVD-Rom drives wouldnt be around ;-)

I'm not sure you can call tmg a release group. All they do is take releases from other groups and reencode them to divx.
Edit: I think it's TMD not TMG
Does anyone know the best P2P place for downloading pc games?? Ive found emule is pretty good, cause I was using kazaa and like my PC would say "Virtual Memory running low" when it was on for awhile, with EMule Ive had it on for like two days straight and It hasen't said it once
/me cries for voltron.
I feel your dialup pain. Also, try eDonkey 2000 1.0- it seems to be going MUCH faster than eMule was for me. I cannot imagine your patience to download a 740 meg file on dialup. That just SUCKS.
