V & F Portelli & Sons Ltd agents for JOVI Art Materials are one of the main sponsors for the first edition of the Golden Cross International Singing Festival. This first International Children and Youth singing festival event is going to be held on the 16th, 17th and 18th September 2004 at the Sir Temi Hall, University of Malta.
This is a global turn on to singers to explore and exhibit their talents. This festival has received an enormous response from eight different countries around the world. The foreign singers participating in this Festival are from Sicily, Italy, Macedonia, Bosnia, Poland, Russia, Bulgaria and Moldavia, making up a nicely formed group of 15 participants.
The Festival is adequately formed to cater for Maltese singers, singing both original and cover versions of songs composed by Maltese composers and lyric writers, who will have the opportunity to compete with international singers.
The contest will be divided into three categories. Category ?A' holds singers aged 6-8, category ?B' corresponds to singers aged 9-11 and in last category ?C' singers are 12-15 of age. The Maltese and Gozitan singers will be chosen to sing either on Thursday 16th September or Friday 17th September 2004, while the foreign participants will sing on both days. In the final day, Saturday 18th September, winners will sing their song. This day will be recorded and transmitted on a local TV station as well as on foreign channels.
Dancing groups will be given the opportunity to take part in this much awaited international festival.
This event is in the working hands of a team, which is directed by Anthony Grech who is a member of the International Federation of Festival Organizers (FIDOF). He will ensure the quality of organization, professionalism, quality of hospitality, aims of the event in conformity with FIDOF's aim -- "peace and friendship through music and art".
