Recently after formatting my computer, I went to rip a dvd movie as usual, using 1-click dvd ripper, (converting it to divx), when I play it back there are breaks in the audio every 3 or 4 seconds. I've ripped movies before and they've come out successfully, so I don't know what has gone wrong. I can't remember exactly, but I think I had this problem before, and it was to do with divx anti-freeze option in the k-lite codec pack, but I'm not sure. I'm running XP sp1 If anyone can give me some advice, much appreciated and thanks in advance. (I've tried ripping a movie with the divx anti-freeze ticked and also tried ripping with it unticked. Also tried ripping it with dvdx, and the audio was even worse and more echoey.)

Have you checked the mp3 stats in WMP properties during playback? Are the blocks playing out fully? Dying on an off? Freezing then skipping ahead?
How about the sample rate? Perhaps your soundcard can't handle whatever your encoding the audio with.

If you look at the standard Advance mp3 codecs properties while playing in WMP 6.4 you should see the mp3's blocks moving along with no sync lost or freezes in the number.Originally Posted by dakadahoona
Sample rate as in 44khz or 48 or what? Ya just quoted me bitrate. ;)
Some on board sound can't handle certain sample rates so try playing the same rip on a system with something like a SB Live! or any old generic pci soundcard.
