Which do you suggest for music and movies?

    Hello All,

I'm fairly new to filesharing, all my co-workers download files, everyone suggests a different program.

So far i heard limewire, kazaa, and soulseek are currently the best? What do you folks suggest using for music and movies?

    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

riderx is suggesting bitcomet as a client for Bit Torrent, I personally would suggest Azereus for this job.

I personally use Direct Connect (rmDC++) the most for music, bit torrent for movies and games. I also use WinMX for single songs I can't find on DC. Just a warning though, DC can be a pain in the ass to setup, but if you have problems, you can always ask around here, this is probably the best collection of p2p specialists around, so use em!

Bit Torrent is, well, I donno, a network of sorts? You click a link to a .torrent file (or download it) and open it using your favorite BT (Bit torrent) client. The client then communicates with everyone else that's downloading/uploading the same file, and deals with your uploads and downloading needs. .torrent files are stored on trackers that keep tabs on who's using each file (I think) and distribute links. The most popular tracker is the one shawners is referrring to: suprnova.org

For just songs, I would have to suggest Limewire. Gnutella (the network it uses) is best fitted for smaller files, such as mp3 files (in case you don't know what that is, it's just a file that stores the music in a compressed form), and you don't have to worry about firewalls, etc. (it works right through them). You can get the free version at www.limewire.com - it's 100% spyware and adware free (although it does have a lot of nag screens to upgrade to the paid version).

idk how new you are to all this, but, just in general, when it comes to downloading music, get at least 128 kb/sec bitrate - in other words, the quality of the file. However, I would highly recommend trying to find something a bit higher, at least 160 kb/sec to 192 kb/sec, but anything more is probably overkill.

Well, there's no best app for filesharing. People here on Zeropaid.com, argue on this all the time =) Depending on the type of file you want, some may be better (faster, better speed, more connections) than others. But you can still get all types of files from any single program. That said, I'll list which netowrks offer the best speeds of a particular type of file (and the clients/programs in parenthesis like this one):

    Movies/Games and other large files:

Gnutella1/Gnutella2 (clients - Limewire, Bearshare, Shareaza, Morpheus, and others)
Torrent (supporting clients - Bittorrent, BitTornado, Shareaza, and others)
Edonkey (supporting clients - edonkey, emule, shareaza)
IRC (supporting clients - mIRC, many others)
Music, Photos, Documents, and other relatively small files:
Gnutella1/Gnutella2 (clients - Limewire, Bearshare, Shareaza, Morpheus, and others)
WinMX (runs on its own network)
Soulseek (runs on its own network)
Ares (runs on its own network)
