Mkv to vcd

I want to put some mkv files on vcd, either that or covert them to divx or avi. What is the best way to do these things.

Emmm...i know this is an old thread, but before I start a new one I might as well post here since I basically have the same question. Can somebody tell me what exactly .mkv files are, and whether you can convert them to avi. (or somthing of that sort). If yes....how?

There are few web pages that describes what MKV files are for (anime). No need to convert them!
