Hi all, i was wonderin if ne1 can help me plz?
I downloaded a film yesterday on kazaa, the whole film worked fine, except when i converted the avi file into mpeg, the film goes on playing with the sound fine, but the picture freezes for about 5 secs and moves onto another part of the film (the pictures) and does the same thing again... does any1 kno the problem and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thnx!
:goodjob
What software did you use to convert it? I know when i converted a DivX rip to mpeg2 using Nero, it got completely screwed up (and started acting like your film did). If you used Nero, i would suggest trying another tool.
Oh, and welcome to ZP :gj
hey, thnx for the welcome n reply! :)
I used the "avi2vcd" software, ive tried nero b4 but it really didnt do much for me, the avi2vcd worked fine b4, so im guessing maybe its the film that has made the problem?
thnx again!
I've honestly never worked with that kind of thing, but I have a few ideas.
Do you have all the corect updated codecs installed?
Did you close/disable all other programs before converting?
Is your machine fast enough?
Is your machine overclocked?
Did it play correct as an .avi?

Yeah, sorry, but that's about the limit of my knowledge :tilted
However, a friend of mine (who does a lot of encoding of movies) once mentioned the site http://www.videohelp.com/ to me - it's goal is to help people convert their movies onto DVDs, etc., so it might help out a bit
@phalkon30 - yup to all your questions, thnx for the help anyway. ;)

thanku!
Yes to the overclocking also? Its a long shot, but extreme overclocking can cause errors in files (although they tend to be blue screens).

There are also video fixers like this one http://www.divx-digest.com/software/video_fixer.html that don't hurt to have, even if it doesn't fix this particular problem.
@phalkon30 - oh sorry, i missd that part! its a no to that one lol...
@napho - thnx, ill check that out in a while! :) if i still cant find a way to fix this ill jus download another file, hopefully everything will work!
If his computer isnt sufficent enough to convert them on his computer due to lack of speed, resources, or video that would probably be the cause of it.
Right click on your "My Computer" icon and select properties.
Then read off what you see to us :]
u can use TMPGEnc to convert avi to mpg or maybe you need VirtualDub if there's a problem with encoded audio.
wel thnku 4 every1s help - i tried wot most ppl suggested but didnt wrk, so i downloaded a diff file and it seemed 2 wrk! :D so i guess it woz the file i downloaded b4 that mucked it all up.
