    The fresh prince supports pirates

    Will Smith supports music pirates

Rapper and actor Will Smith has shocked his music industry pals by speaking out in support of internet music pirates.

The Wild Wild West hitmaker doesn't understand why so many pop stars are furious about their tunes being downloaded over the worldwide web.

Smith says: "Everybody's getting angry about people downloading music for free, but my take is, 'OK, there were pirates 1,000 years ago - there is no reason for us to think that we'll live without them in the year 2004.'

"It's always going to be there. In keeping with my intuitive comprehension of the universe, it would be foolish of me to upset myself with something that always has been and always will be. Got that?"

Wow Will Smith just became todays unexpected hero, Although I dont think
downloading is quite on par with plundering, murder and the high seas it was
still a cool stance for someone in his position

Its an interesting point of view. Playing the devil's advocate here, I wonder how he feels about ppl downloading his movies (which probably makes more money for him than his music)?

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".

He's not saying it's okay, he's just saying it's there, it's always been there, it will always be there, get over it.
