I'm having problem with my bit torrent clients.

    Good morning to all,

I'm having problem with my bit torrent clients.
I just had a install a new h/d(60G) on my laptop and everything else was the same
with my previous set up. Using XP Chinese traditional SP1, everything is the
same except I can't use bit torrent to download, to be precise, when I start
everything seems working and in about 10 to 15 minutes everything slows to a
complete halt, the downloading and connection freeze up (using i-cable broad
band) and everything else freezes, I can't even re-boot and have to hard
switch off to re-boot. I'm using Azureus, also tried Bit Comet and ABC.
Every client seems the same, could anyone enlighten me on what happened?
Switch back to my old H/D (20G) everything works fine, Azureus download at
fantastic speed (450kps) and everything works fine with it.

Firewall using Zonealarm (everything was fine as from previous.)
    Anitvirus using AVG

    Connecting to internet via broadband.

Everything is as before I switched but seems nothing is working.

Tried as advised on other topics to change port only Azureus is better now, still stuck but when I unplug the internet connect and after about 10 secs everything is okay. Still I only get Yellow in health indicator.

Please advise as I'm not very good with computers

Zone Alarm has some known problems with P2P clients/networks, though, none are mentioned at the website for the official BitTorrent client.

However, i've seen a lot of threads here at Zeropaid regarding BitTorrent problems and they have a lot in common, Zone Alarm.

In short, it is in my belief that Zone Alarm is indeed the devil.

    THE DEVIL I TELLS YA!.

    Yes it probably is ZoneAlarm.

Okay, when loading Azureus or any other BT client, ZA should ask you whether you want to accept the connection. Check the box that should say something about "Remember this answer the next time I use this program," and press yes. This will allow it access untill you uninstall or reinstall the program.

    Or....

You can open up ZA, go to Program Controls, Programs, find Azureus there, and allow it the type of access you prefer.

I use ZoneAlarm and for program control, I have it at medium, with Automatic Lock off.

Since his downloads work for 10-15 minutes ZA lets azureus and javaw.exe to access the internet. It is most propably ZA fault though. ZA is also known to eat a lot of cpu usage when using p2p programs.

Just a question: Cable conections use ethernet cards? I'm on Adsl and when I had an update for realtec ethernet, the settings changed and after a while my connection dropped to zero.

Trash ZA5, go back to 4.5, or try another firewall; I use Sygate.

    Smile A big Thank you

To all who took the effort to reply.

Thanks and this is the only group that actually gave a sensible advise, trash ZA and install something else. Every other group I'd posted to tell me to tweak with the ports and all that.

After removing ZA, everything and for the matter all bit torrent clients works fine.

A special thanks for recommending Sygate, love it. And Zaureus work fine with it.

    Cheers to all

    Heartfelt thank again.
