Bearshare to means seems slighty faster and connects better. I get more results with bearshare simply because they stay in the window when I do a repeat search. Bearshare isn't java, which is nice also.

Limewire has a good corruption detection and gives you more control in the long run. It also uses icons instead of colors to signify what is corrupt, what you are downloading, what you have finished downloading, and what the other results are.

Both are good, both get the job done. Go with whatever you like best.

Both are very good, right now Lime has more features (partial file sharing for one), but the latest Bearshare beta will catch right up, so it really depends on which you prefer.

I would say try em both and see which you like better.

Oh that's a tough one. I liked bearshare before Limewire 4.1.1 came out. That definitly takes the cake.

Now I realize we're not talking about the Ad versions, but if you get the Beta's of both they don't contain ads. It's a really cool feature. -Matt

Why in the world would you even consider paying for a P2P app? <shakes head in disbelief>

They pulled it off the website (no clue why) and I haven't seen a pro version yet. I usually get them within a couple of hours of release, but I haven't seen one up until last night (Haven't looked today, about to eat dinner, I'll look later on though).

This is my first tiem posting here and I hope someone can help me with my huge Limwire probs. For some reason, in the last two months or so, my limewire has been acting crazy. Downloads have slowed down, theu freeze up my entire pc system and I get so frustrated that I end up shutting it down (with Ctrl Alt Del). When i restart it, I have come to accept that none of my old downloads can be restarted, which means I get to go through the whole process of trying to find and download the fils all over again. Sometimes I try o force a resume of the old files but they still go back to zero.
    sigh.
Anyone know why my limewire 4.10.9 is taking up so much memory and freezing up? All other applications work fine, but Limwire just freezes up.

Have you scanned your computer with an Antivirus, couild that be the problem? LimeWire is written in Java so it takes up a whole lot of memory which might cause your computer to freeze.

Limewire 4.17.3 Beta is out, which is way better than BearShare. BearShare (6.1) now limits you to how long you can keep your songs (WHICH SUCKS) and you have to pay a fee to keep them forever. Also they make you pay 5.99 to burn one cd and you are only allowed to move them to a portable device 6 times (then they remove themselves when the songs expire). I think that Limewire is deffienately better than BearShare, you've got my word.

This thread was created in 2004, and things were different than they are now.

Now obviously Limewire is better solely based on the reason it doesn't install all sorts of spyware on your PC unlike Bearshare.

Since your replying to ancient history whats next are you going to review Napster or better yet Scour.
