Direct Connect Router HELL

hey guys. This problem has been bothering me since I started using DC++. I have DSL, and Im used to getting like 40-120 kb/sec downloads. On EVERY download with Dc++, i get nothing above 5 kb, and sometimes not even 1 kb/sec. I use a Linksys (the new kind) router, and I forwarded ports 1550 to my internal ip (192.168.1.6), and Im using No-IP app to have a never changing external ip (automatically updates). I even changed the settings in DC++. Anyone have any ideas what the problem is? There is no firewalls installed btw.....

I'd like to hear this one too, I can't even get search results , I've tried every address, my IP on the network, my IP to the outside world, and my router, nothing works. I'm Dmz'd. I still use other p2p networks fine, e.g. piolet, emule with a high ID, etc, so im not firewalled .

Well try connecting as a passive user then. And remember its who you download from as well. The person who is uploading to you is dependent on your download speeds as well.
So if your downloading from a dial up user of course your going to get a slow download.

btw maybe someone else can help you on here on port forwarding your router with direct connect. btw i am on a network to but i didnt port forward my ports, so i connect passively.

have you tested those ports to make sure their open? btw dont dmz your computer thats not smart

it is if you have to forward about 20 ports to your computer and the router configuration page won't allow for that.

it's not smart to be DMZ'd without running a software firewall.

You think you have it bad i have an internet connection with my router that i can barely use.....mine disconnects and reconnects like ever 5 or 10 seconds so it is hell to download stuff..... :ass

update your NIC card drivers, and perhaps try disconnecting your router entirley and then try a download off DC++

I'd love to update my router, but the router venders website is so god dam unaccessible it makes flash sites look good.
My router is an smc router.

thanks for all the help guys!! Mastashake rules! lol. I think its the fact that the router is 2 floors up, and my wireless USB adaptor just doesnt have good reception. IM leavin for college in a month so I guess ill just wait.

Now i have a router/firewall/anti virus and it was a bitch to get going but i did it. Now if you can get it to port forward then your well in at the mo. I suggest port forwarding 1026 as it worked for me. Also remember to go into a hub which allows you to see your ip. +myip seems to do it in most hubs. Now type that ip into the dc++ settings box along with your 1026 port. Now close dc++ and then wait a while and reopen it. This should solve your problems. Also if 1026 is taken try ports adding one on each time as in 1027 1028 and so on. Hope this helps

yea, 2 floors up with a wireless USB...could play a 'minor' role in the bad connection.
